Infrastructure Work

In 1989 the DBA commissioned a major infrastructure development strategy.  The study put forward a number of recommendations which would result in Corner Brook’s downtown being upgraded to a level competitive with other resort destinations areas. Key recommendations centered on properly themeing the downtown area, upgrading streetscape infrastructure such as sidewalks and lighting and development of proven tourism lures such as a gazebo, pocket parks, parking, and a  museum.  Most of these initiatives have been completed and the DBA anticipates all infrastructure work to be finished by 2009.

Marketing

In October of 2007, the DBA held a strategic planning workshop with members and key stakeholders.  The primary goal was to identify and prioritize marketing activities for implementation.  Initiatives such as Shop Downtown Campaigns, festivals, special events, advertising, signage and more are being explored.  Implementation of this plan has already started so stay-tuned for results!
